Take Care Of Your Light

Updated: Apr 2, 2020

I have not updated in awhile so I feel an obligation to all of you supportive people and myself to write a post, even if I'm not ready after some painful events and other stress I've endured over the past three and a half weeks regarding family and friends.

But days are starting to get better.

If there is one thing I will remember from the memorial service I recently attended, it's his father saying that everyone has a light. Sometimes, that light is darkened and covered up by the pain that the world causes us. Depression is a lie, and will dim our light, but it shouldn't ever put it out. "Do you want to know what I'm talking about?" he asked. "Look in a child's eyes. Their light is untouched and bright. We still have that light too."

As we go into the weekend, I urge you to take care of your light. Keep it shiny and give it the attention it needs. Look at your friends' lights. Make sure they are working properly. Check in on each other and really be there. Be present and cherish each moment you spend with a loved one.

This weekend I'm getting dinner with my mother. Wine with a friend. Going to a board game convention. Celebrating Father's Day. Do the things that make you happy and will make your light shine the brightest.

There will be more to come, and I will start updating regularly once again. Much love to you all.
